Cheshire Live can confirm the restaurant is currently closed for refurbishment, but when it reopens it will serve Pan-Asian cuisine.

Owners Simon and Kelly have been running the Cantonese and Beijing style restaurant and takeaway on London Road for over three decades.

It became a “national village trust”, they said.

The people of the village grew up eating takeout, soon to bring their partners, then their children, then their children’s partners.

But now Simon and Kelly are leaving the restaurant to relax and spend more time with their own family.

The restaurant wrote in a heartfelt social media post: “Although bittersweet, it is finally time for us to call it a day after over 30 years of hard work. We (Simon & Kelly) will no longer be the owners of Kellys Chinese Restaurant.

“Being able to serve a generation of customers is an example of one of the memories we will never forget.

“We’ve seen young couples who started eating at my restaurant while dating, then got married and had children. From there, we saw their children start dining at our restaurant and bring their partners too.

“Dear customers over the past 30 plus years – may we wish each of you a happy and bright future.

“From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you all so much for your continued support over the years. »

Simon and Kelly are much-loved familiar faces within Stockton Heath and generations of customers have expressed their sadness at the announcement.

Phil Constantine commented on the announcement: “I had a bachelor party at your restaurant 27 years ago, I’ve been with my family many times since then so it brings back some great memories! “

Dee Appleton Cairns said: “So sad I started eating at Kelly’s as a teenager, wonderful food and service.”

Chris Burke wrote a moving message from his family: “Oh no what a shame so sad to read this…we as a family have been dining with you for over 20 years, we spent the last 20 Christmas Eve with you , you have seen our family grow as we have seen yours…

“we fondly remember your 2 school work at the table becoming the best waiter/waitress we could have wished to serve us, the food was always amazing and the welcome and hospitality from you (Simon & Kelly ) are what drew us to Kelly’s restaurant…”

The consensus among old and new guests is that Stockton Heath won’t be the same without the couple’s hospitality.
