Mammootty to headline “Nanpakal Nerath Mayakkam” by Lijo Jose Pellissery | Malayalam movie news

Acclaimed director Lijo Jose Pellissery has announced his upcoming “Nanpakal Nerath Mayakkam”, which will be titled by Mammootty. Lijo Jose Pellissery made the announcement through his social media account on Sunday.



The next film is expected to be a family entertainer and if reports are to be believed, the crew has started filming in Tamil Nadu. Theni Eswar, who captured the visuals for Mammootty stars “Peranbu” and “Puzhu”, took on the role of cinematographer. Lijo Jose Pellissery is said to have roped up beginner actors from Kerala and Tamil Nadu for the film.

Cinephile expectations have exploded as Lijo Jose Pellissery teamed up with Megastar Mammootty. Grapevine rumors also suggest the duo are in talks for an upcoming anthology film, which will be based on a novel by legendary MT Vasudevan Nair.

Lijo Jose Pellissery, who began his directorial career with the 2010 release of “Nayakan”, gained attention in 2013 for his third director “Amen”. Starring Fahadh Faasil, Swathi Reddy and Indrajith Sukumaran in the lead roles, ‘Amen’ revolved around the events that take place in a picturesque village after the arrival of a young pastor. The satire was embellished with elements of romance and comedy, the film created ripples in the Malayalam film industry.

Lijo Jose Pellissery has carved out a niche for himself in the industry with his 2017 director “Angamaly Diaries”. From protagonist Pepe (Antony Varghese) to supporting characters and villainous Ravi (Appani Sharath), the film starred around 1,000 newbie actors and it became a box office blockbuster. His next ‘Ee.Ma.Yau.’ a satire that also revolves around death also won hearts and won him the award for best director. His 2019 release of ‘Jallikattu’ which revolved around the concept of man versus the beast also sparked conversations and sacked accolades, including the State Award for Best Director and the National Award for Best Cinematography (Girish Gangadharan ). The film was also shortlisted for the 93rd Academy Awards for Best International Feature, but lost the race towards the end. His latest work is “Churuli”, and the film has yet to hit screens.
