Recognize familiar faces at the White Lion of Whittington?

The picturesque village of Whittington is steeped in history with its medieval castle and half-timbered buildings.

With a breathtaking view of the castle and its moat, the Lion Blanc is nestled in a perfect setting.

The pub is located next to the ruins of Whittington Castle, which anyone who dines with us can view from our veranda or moat lounge.

The pub prides itself on its home cooking and the use of local produce from local suppliers.

The pub is family run with father and son Bryan and Ben Williams as the owner and Ben as a chef with other family members on the front of the house team.

Ben has worked in the pub industry since leaving school and has worked in many establishments in the city and region.

Bryan was a former dairy engineer at Muller Dairy and joined Ben on the pub and restaurant adventure.

Bryan said: “We support local charities and projects by hosting a monthly bingo night with all proceeds going to the charity.

“Last month we raised funds for the new veterans ward at the Orthopedic Hospital. We also have occasional quiz nights.”

The White Lion has a large beer garden which sits next to the ruins of Whittington Castle with a newly built cabin that houses four picnic tables.

At the other end of the beer garden, the moat meets the White Lion Garden so you can sit and enjoy a pint or meal and admire the castle moat and ruins.

With four main dining rooms and a large bar, the pub can accommodate small parties and large group bookings of up to 40 people.
