Zhe ‘Shelly’ Wang: Who is Bill Gates interpreter?



After decades of working in tech, philanthropy, and more, it stands to reason that Bill and Melinda Gates would build countless relationships in the business world.

Among those who have crossed paths with the duo is Zhe “Shelly” Wang, who works as a performer for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Wang has been working for the organization since March 2015, while also working as an interpreter for several organizations at the same time.

While it’s not known why, Wang is seeing a resurgence of public interest in his name, which is closely associated with Bill’s in popular online search engines.

However, it should be noted that there has been speculation on a more than strictly professional relationship between Wang and one of the gates – although a Twitter user hinted it was Bill.

She worked as a performer for almost nine years

According to her LinkedIn profile, Wang first became an interpreter at the Monterey Institute of International Studies in September 2012. Through her position, she worked on several TED conference events, which could have opened the door to her next position at TED himself. .

She joined TED Conferences as an interpreter in April 2013 and oversaw a team that would interpret TED events in Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish.

On LinkedIn, her first position on the list is the owner of Four Seasons Hot Pot & Dumplings from 2006 to 2008. The restaurant is located in Provo, Utah.

She wrote online that she was responsible for “external networking” for the company, “performing market research and analysis and” developing and managing [the] Company Website.”

She attended Brigham Young University

The interpreter received her Bachelor of Science in Business / Management Economics from Brigham Young University in 2007.

From 2011 to 2013, she studied conference interpretation at the Monterey Institute for International Studies, according to LinkedIn.

She is multilingual

As you would expect from an interpreter, Wang can speak at least six languages.

It seems that Wang is not only business-conscious, as she has also been approved by her peers for her piano teaching and Chinese dance choreography.
